Road Maintenance and traffic speed

Road Repairs

I have asked for Church Rd, Leckhampton to be resurfaced and have finally got a date for this work to be undertaken. This is due to take place between 16th and 20th August and diversions will be in place. The section between the junction with Leckhampton Rd and (approximately) the Church is being resurfaced. It is a shame that the whole length could not be undertaken in one go but it is sensible to plan the work during the school holidays.

Clearly there is much more work needed to bring our roads and pavements up to a decent standard. I will continuing to keep up the pressure for this work to be done despite the lack of adequate investment in Cheltenham's roads.

Please use the contact box below to report pot holes to me and suggest other roads or pavements which need attention.

Klara.

CONSULTATION ON WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN SOUTHGATE DRIVE AREA

Residents living in or near Southgate Drive who often find access in and out of their drives restricted by inconsiderate commuter parking, are being consulted on plans to restrict all day parking in the area.

Proposals include bays where some unrestricted parking will remain. In much of the area the proposal is that there should be no parking between 11am-2pm.

This is an issue I have been trying to help residents resolve for some time and now Gloucestershire Highways have funding in place to try to address the issue.

UPDATE May 27th

Following on from the initial consultation highways officers revised the scheme and sent details to residents for them to comment further.

Officers intend to have all the legal work completed June / July and pending any objections to the proposal would hope to see lines installed in September/October.

To get this far has been a long process.

I am very keen that residents get a scheme which they are happy with and which has their support. However, there have been very many different views put forward by local residents on the nature of the parking problems and what solutions are needed. The end result may not be the preferred option for everyone but will hopefully improve the situation greatly.

Leckhampton Road/Old Bath Road Junction

There is a great deal of concern over the safety of the junction of Leckhampton Road and Old Bath Rd. There have been 6 accidents at this junction over the past 18 months.

Klara and local MP Martin Horwood have drafted a letter to about 100 households in the area asking for feedback on the issue.

UPDATE May 27th Gloucestershire Highways are working on likely plans to improve the safety at this junction which should be ready to provide an update of the plans on to councillors at the end of May/start of June.

Slow Down In Charlton Park

OBRCROP.jpg

Finding the right solution to slow traffic down is not always an easy matter as there is rarely total agreement on what measures are needed. However, one thing is clear; road safety is one of the County Council's key priorities and local councillors will work with Gloucestershire Highways to seek the best possible outcomes for local residents.

Traffic speed has long been of concern to many Charlton Park residents. In November 2006 a young woman tragically lost her life in a road traffic accident in Bafford Approach. Residents on Old Bath Rd also fear an accident will happen unless measures are taken to reduce traffic speed.

Klara said "Addressing traffic speed in Charlton Park is one of my key priorities. I am pleased to have been able to secure some new signs which will remind people of the speed limit and slow traffic down. The next step is to progress the campaign for sensible traffic calming measures to make our roads safer."

Pot holes? Noisey neighbours? Faulty Street lights? fly Tipping?
The link below is to a great web site where you can report all sorts of different local problems.

I have used it to report pot holes and poor road surface etc and it seems to be quite effective at getting results. Plus you can see what else has been reported in our area.
