For me the most rewarding
part of being a councillor is meeting local residents and working effectively to address traffic, road maintenance, planning
and other local issues. Here is a bit more about my work in public office.
PUBLIC OFFICE: May 2005 - present
Since May 2005 I have been a County Councillor for
All Saint's Division (All Saint's, College, Charlton Park and Leckhampton Borough Wards). I represent approximately
1/5th of Cheltenham and work hard at both a local and county level for my constituents.
May 1st 2008 - elected to represent Charlton Park Ward
on Cheltenham Borough Council.
VOLUNTARY WORK AND CAMPAIGNS: March 2002
- present

A member of the Cheltenham Environment Forum since
2002, I was involved in the campaign to reduce the environmental impact on Cox's Meadow of the River Chelt Flood Alleviation
Scheme.
During this campaign I learned a great deal about the River Chelt Flood Alleviation Scheme which led me
to believe it would not stop Cheltenham from flooding; something I strongly believed people living in the flood plain should
have been made aware of.
With a keen interest in local history, I am member
of Cheltenham Local History Society and have worked to try to save several buildings of local importance from demolition -
including 131 Old Bath Road and Cotswold House (the Ladies College Principle's lodgings).
I was the founder Chair of Naunton Park Area Residents
Association (2002-2007); a pro-active group that sought to enhance and protect the quality of life of residents in the Naunton
Park Area by fighting deleterious planning applications, tackling traffic problems and achieving environmental improvements.
This experience led me into local politics and wanting to be a local councillor.
I have written the Community News page in the Leckhampton
Directory for 5 years. This is a business directory which is delivered free to 1,000s of homes each month. A member of
the Leckhampton Court (Sue Ryder Home) Support Group since July 2005, I have given advice on ways to tap into different fund
raising sources.
I am on the Committee of LEGLAG (Leckhampton Green Land Action Group), have experience of being
a Governor at a local Primary School and am a Governor of the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
I
am also a representative of the Borough Council on the Excecutive Committee of the Friends of Leckhampton Hill and
Charlton Kings Common (FOLK).
